How do we bring energy efficiency to young people and professionals at the Generalitat de Catalunya?

Creation of the game The Five Energy Differences, a website about energy efficiency that includes interactive audiovisual capsules, experiment data sheets and scientific explanations. Creation of a series of six audiovisual capsules called Energy-Saving at the Office which, covering energy reduction to ludicrous consumption, aim to raise awareness of the need for energy consumption efficiency at work.

The game The Five Energy Differences is a virtual tool for young students and teachers aimed at encouraging careers in engineering. Another aim of this initiative is to make young people aware that energy is a scarce resource. The figure of engineer is promoted as someone who develops and applies innovative technologies. It also shows some of the possibilities for professionals in this field, as well as their positive contribution to society. This virtual tool presents five renewable energy models and new technologies based on energy saving and efficiency. The game also includes explanatory videos, informative descriptions, illustrated experiments and links to further information. LED lighting, electric vehicles, solar energy, insulation and personal computers are just some of the topics developed. This project was supported by Enginycat.

Energy-Saving at the Office is a project that proposes a series of good practices regarding energy use in our work environments. Through a series of six audiovisual short films devised and produced by La Mandarina de Newton, the ICAEN aims to raise awareness among professionals at the Generalitat de Catalunya. These audiovisual capsules show simple slogans that are easy to put into practice in our daily lives to help reduce energy waste at work and also in our homes.

Each audiovisual piece is focused on a different aspect of our working lives in which we can save energy. These include:

  • Energy saving with electronic devices: questions the use of electronic devices
  • Energy saving in relation to mobility: questions the use of transport to get to work
  • Energy saving in communal spaces: questions the use of adequate spaces according to the number of people and the work to be carried out
  • Energy saving in rest areas: questions energy use in office spaces intended for meals or rest during work breaks
  • Energy saving and air conditioning: questions the use of air conditioning in offices
  • Energy saving in the use of materials: questions our use of consumables.
