mSchools (formed by the GSMA and the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya), Catalonia , 2017, 2018

Transform education by training teachers and professors in Catalonia in pedagogical innovation methods such as Design Thinking. From this training, produce a repository of new innovative resources co-created by heterogeneous groups of teachers.

EduHack aims to hack education, in the positive sense of the word. It does this by introducing new visions, such as design thinking, digital tools and DIY philosophy into the world of learning.

La Mandarina de Newton collaborated with mSchools on the design, structure and production of the second edition of EduHack. La Mandarina de Newton contributed to the creation of:

  • A digital platform with a content space and work space for the various participating groups
  • Five audiovisual capsules
  • Training for volunteer facilitators involved in the project
  • Four simultaneous one-day sessions in the four Catalan provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona, to create learning communities and to promote teamwork
  • 800 people participated, divided into 150 design teams formed of teachers, professors, pedagogical students and educational professionals in general
  • Two follow-up sessions: the first within the framework of YOMO and the second hosted by the Maritime Museum of Barcelona
  • Advice and follow-up of the project.

As a result of all this work, 60 pilot didactic proposals were produced during the 2018-2019 course and were trialled in over 100 Catalan schools, thus impacting more than 5,000 students.

From this, other training courses were developed for teachers linked to the Pedagogical Resources Centres (CRP).

60 pilot prototypes of innovative, inclusive and digital didactic proposals, impacting around 100 schools, 250 teachers and 5,000 students.
